Movement for Body/Mind Wellness

Downtown Well & Violence Prevention Institute
Practice self-love and self-healing through somatic movement, bodywork, dance, or a similar energetic or movement-based practice. This type of movement is flexible to accommodate various abilities and preference, all in a shared space to process held tension and be present in our bodies. The workshop will be led by a member of the Counseling Center team, and will be followed by a debrief session.

Sensual Intelligence is a workshop designed to teach attendees the difference between sensuality and sexuality. sensuality is experiencing non sexual pleasure through all six of the senses (site, sound, taste, touch, smell, and feel). Living sensually means that experience sex through all six of the senses as well! This practice not only makes you more intentional about the way you move through the world, it also makes you more receptive to the more than 20 different orgasms that the human body has to offer! Join Goody as she explores how to connect with your sexual self.

From lavender oil to ginseng tea to chocolate covered strawberries, this event will cover the basics of different love-related essential oils and herbal traditions, while providing fun snacks for students to learn to make and, most importantly, eat. They will also get to take a sample of their favorite oil home with them, with some sprays allowing them to refresh their room in a Community Standards fashion!

Our event aims provide a safe space in which students may connect with themselves to feel comfortable and at home in their bodies. Our hope is to encourage students to adopt a mindset in which their value is inherently tied to their humanistic qualities as opposed to body size or shape. While embracing sex positivity and body respect are two separate journeys, there is much overlap that can help foster substantial personal growth.
