Zine Making

Hosted by: Her Campus & SAPHE

Join SAPHE and Her Campus to celebrate sex positivity and healthy relationships by creating your own zine with materials provided by The Well. Derived from the word “magazine,” zines are independently published DIY booklets that are often created by a single person by cutting and pasting text and images onto paper and folding them into booklets that can be easily reproduced. Zines gained notoriety in the 1970s as a way to promote punk music, and they were later used to develop the Queercore and Riot Grrrl movements in the 80s and 90s. Staff at The Bindery in Milwaukee state on their website that “zines provide a safe, independent platform of expression for underrepresented and marginalized voices: Black, Indigenous & People of Color, young people, people with disabilities, the LGBTQ(+) community, persecuted religious groups, and people with limited economic resources.” We invite you to come express yourself through the art of zine-making, and everyone will go home with their own copy of the Sex Week 2022 official zine!
